Kicks Over Brunch: AIR Edition

Kicks Over Brunch: AIR Edition

Kicks & Fros headed back to Atlanta, Georgia for a special edition of Kicks Over Brunch to celebrate the theatrical release of Amazon Studios’ new film, AIR. The inspirational film highlights the epic partnership between Michael Jordan and Nike that revolutionized the sneaker world and sports.

The brunch was held at Terminus 330 in downtown Atlanta and while the weather was cold and rainy, guests did not let that stop their shine. The outfits and kicks were truly next level. Upon entering the building, the air (pun intended) was filled with excitement and genuine love and support. It was beautiful to see women who have followed each other for years finally get a chance to meet offline & in person. All around connections were being made and it was truly female empowerment at its finest.

.
.The event opened with a cocktail hour, followed by brunch, and finally a sit-down Q&A with AIR costume designer, Charlese Antoinette Jones. No detail was overlooked in the execution of the brunch. Upon arrival the ladies were immediately provided a glass of champagne in a custom wine glass that guests could take home. There was an open bar, delicious hors d’oeuvres, a sneaker cam, and swag bags. Let’s get into the deets of the swag bag shall we? Guests took home a Limited Edition Care Kit from Jason Markk, a pair of sunglasses, a K&F enamel pin, K&F stickers, K&F shoelaces, and candy from the 80s that made us all a little nostalgic.

DJ Tee Y kept us rocking all day long and the food was *chefs kiss*. Our first course was a citrus salad and an almond croissant with yogurt. The second course was chicken and waffles with shrimp and grits. Followed by cinnamon roll bread pudding and nitrogen ice cream for dessert. After everyone’s belly was full it was time for the sit down Q&A with K&F CKO, Melissa Chanel and AIR costume designer, Charlese Antoinette Jones.

Charlese, who has always had a love for both sneakers and fashion, gave us all the deets on how she got into costume designing, the importance of following your dreams, and where she found inspo for the film. Charlese’s family is also from NC so she looked to her aunts for inspiration when designing for the film which is set in the 80’s. She also researched for weeks to find and create just the right looks and pieces and if you’ve already seen the film then you know that she nailed it.

Before she left, Charlese shared 3 of her top sneaker styling tips: style kicks with dope socks, with skirts or dresses, and with monochromatic fits. She also shared who showed up to set in the hottest kicks. And in case you’re wondering, Charlese, Chris Tucker, and Ben Affleck won the title. Be sure to follow @airmovie for more fun movie deets.

It was truly a perfect day. So many connections were made and everyone left inspired and motivated to continue to follow their dreams. If you haven't seen AIR yet, head to the theaters and #JustSeeIt. Yes, it’s in theaters right now so assemble your tribe, put on your favorite kicks, and prepare to be inspired! And if you need some fit inspo when you’re heading to the movies, check out some of our favorite brunch looks below!
